One thing to note about GCET, Greenfield’s community network, is that it is a wireless network for residences. More specifically, when you request service they set up a wireless antenna that points to a wireless transmitter nearby. This feeds into a cable in your house; you don’t need to have all wireless devices. For Northampton, we are proposing a true fiber optic network to the home. Wireless networks by definition share bandwidth. This is not necessarily a problem if the network is architected correctly. A true fiber optic network to the home should deliver consistent network access that reliably meetups published speeds.
